John LaRoy Miller
Westfield - John LaRoy Miller, 75, of Westfield, died on Friday, January 11, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born August 2, 1943, in Indianapolis, IN, to the late LaRoy A. Miller and Rosamonde (Barbieur) Miller. John was preceded in death by his sister Emma Louise (Miller) Sever.
John was a 1963 graduate of Park School. He married Suzanne (Suzy) E. (Ireland) Miller on May 1, 1966. John was a member of the Mobile Riverine Force in the Vietnam War from 1967 - 1968. He was a 1971 graduate of Purdue University and was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity.
John retired from Farm Bureau Insurance of Indiana in 2008. Active in scouting, he served as the North Star District Chairman and received the Silver Beaver Award and the Vigil Honor of the Order of the Arrow. John served as three times past commander and past chaplain for Broad Ripple Post #3 of the American Legion. He was also a 32nd Degree Master Mason within the Scottish Rite and member of the Murat Shrine.
John was long-time member and Elder at Second Presbyterian Church. He was involved with the Indianapolis Great Banquet and was the past president of Kairos Prison Ministry International. Since 2017, John served at the Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Liberty Indiana.
John is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Suzy) E. (Ireland) Miller, his children, Mark (Kathy) Miller and Matt (Meredith) Miller, nine grandchildren, nine nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Second Presbyterian Church at 11:30 am. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of the service. Entombment will be at Washington Park North Cemetery.

I have the privilege of being on the honor guard and was on the rifle team for the funeral of John today. I am one of the team members of the Indy Metropolitan Military Honor Guard. I have a tremendous respect for the many accomplishments of Mr. Miller and wish to express my sincere condolences to his family for the loss of such a wonderful man.
