SANDS THERESE M. (nee KELLEY) 89, of Malvern, died peacefully on January 7, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was the widow of the late Arthur Sands with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage. Born on June 19, 1931 in East Falls, Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ellen Kelley (Waldron). Therese was a graduate of John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School in Philadelphia where she was a member of the basketball team and the orchestra. After caring for her children for many years at home, Therese worked, for most of her career, as an administrative assistant at the former General Wayne Middle School in the Great Valley School District where she enjoyed her many interactions with students, teachers, and parents. She was an active member of St. Patrick Parish where she served in the Mom's Club and as a Eucharistic Minister. She enjoyed gardening, reading, family gatherings, and traveling with her husband. Therese is survived by five children, Marylou Sands of Phoenixville, Barbara Rosato (Andrew) of Spring City, David Sands (Nanci) of Malvern, Susan Darlington (Kevin) of Royersford, and Eileen Menkes (Mark) of West Chester; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Kinsinger and Ellen Sheehan (John), both of Philadelphia; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her grandson, Michael Sands, and her sister, Doris Kelley. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 A.M. on January 14, 2021 at St. Patrick Church in Malvern. Interment will be at the Philadelphia Memorial Park in Frazer.
