I remember Antoaneta, "Tony" staying at my parents home a few weeks in the summer and at Christmas. Thank You for teaching me the correct way to use a microscope. We should have kept in closer contact.
Rest in peace.

Antoaneta and I became friends at the International Center when it was on Marstellar and she and her mother lived a few doors down. She and her mother always supported the IC by selling their delicious crepes at the International Food Bazaar and contributing to dinners. Her mother taught me to make her wonderful bread. On my visits, Antoaneta proudly showed off her tomatoes and beans in the backyard of her new house on Stadium. It sounds like my memories of her are all about food, but there was much more. I was privileged to be asked by her to be a witness for her citizenship. The United States was fortunate to have her as a generous, honest, conscientious American. I thought she would always be there and I am sad to know I will never share another meal with her, another laugh, another serious conversation.
