I had the great blessing of meeting Mary once, and our hour (?) together left a lasting impression of her on my soul. She is one of the great beings I have had the pleasure of meeting. Some of her posters endure as the reverse side of some of my pastel paintings. Michael

Don't know your mom but sure wish I did. By far, the most positive, creative, and best obituary I have ever read!! Her humor and spirit will live on through her family! May she RIP!

I am sorry for your family's loss.....but I must say, although I never have met this lady, the obituary about her is the BEST one I have ever read! What a fun family she leaves behind!

Dear family members of Mary Early Johnson:

Your mom was one of the best folks I knew in Crawfordsville. Besides knowing your mom from working with her at the Crawfordsville Public Library, I knew your mom as a "neighbor down the street" on West Main. My favorite memory of your mom happened on Christmas Day, 1983. That day the temperature was zero or below, with a very dangerous wind-chill. I was scheduled to drive to Indianapolis that morning to spend Christmas Day with my brother, sister-in-law and a brand new nephew. My car would not start. I had a tow truck come. To no avail could he get the car to start. Your mom sent Allen down to see what he could do. It would not start for him trying. (Turns out the gas lines had frozen.) After all these attempts, I called my sister-in-law, who was waiting on me for dinner. I told her i wasn't going to be able to get there. It would be the first Christmas Day that I was not with my family. It was a very lonely and cold Christmas afternoon at my house on Main Street. Finally, your mom called and invited me down to her house with her family to have Christmas dinner. I told your mom, more than once through the years, that she would never know how much that meant to me. To be with your family that evening took my sadness away for the rest of Christmas Day. And, the temperature at your house was warmer than mine! Love to all of you, Judy Greeson, now of Clinton, TN
