Harold Douglas Asbell, 76, of Jacksonville, NC died unexpectedly, on the evening of February 26th, 2021.
He was born December 28th 1944, in Chesapeake, Virginia; the son of Abra and DeLorain Asbell. Harold graduated from Great Bridge High School and served proudly with the United States Marine Corps from 1963 to 1984. He retired at the rank of Master Sergeant aboard MCAS, New River. Harold spent his retirement years traveling with close family and enjoying the company of his grandchildren. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was someone who loved fiercely, ensured all were welcome in his home, and valued loyalty above all. Everyone knowing him was left with happiness. He is survived by his daughters, Lori Saski and Patricia Asbell Rixmann; and his sister, Sandra Williams; sons-in-law, Todd Saski and Scott Rixmann; and daughter in-law, Kristi Asbell Wilson. Grandchildren are Dustin Asbell, Hope Hundley (and husband Michael Hundley), Christina Freeman, Autumn Saski, Drake Asbell, and Douglas Freeman. His great-grandson is Mason Asbell. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy Asbell; and his son, Michael Asbell, who passed in 2010. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 4th at Jones Funeral Home and funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 5th, 2021.
