James Walter Venable James Walter Venable was born October 16th 1930 in Oxford N.C to the parents James and Mary Venable. James who was also called "Yogi" Started his education at Mary Potters Elementary school in Oxford N.C. When the family moved to NJ he along with his brothers attended. James graduated from Bayonne High school and immediately enlisted in the U.S Navy where he sailed the waters on the battleship USS. Missouri and served his country during the Korean War. He often spoke about his love for the navy and the experience in Japan, Korea, and Hawaii and of course Norfolk VA (his home port). James retired from Oriole Chemical Carriers as a truck driver for over 35 years. During his retirement he spent his time tending his garden and his passion for playing pool. He joined the APA somewhat of a skilled player participating in tournaments. After every tournament he would come home and say "Swoobs! I don't think I can be beat!" but when he lost he would say "Swoobs! I beat myself" James will be missed by so many, his loving wife, Ruby Venable; his children: Danielle, James Anthony, Jacqueline, Christopher; grandchildren, Richard, Britni (Justin), Briahn, Tre, Gabrielle, Paige; Sister-in-laws: Tina Venable, Josephine Wright Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 from the funeral home 10-11am, service to follow. Interment Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown NJ. Condolences can be signed at www.westfuneralservice.com. Arrangements by West Funeral & Cremation Service, LLC, 34 E 25th St, Bayonne.
