Luis Ernesto Collar Luis Ernesto Collar, 80, passed away at home in North Arlington on Friday, June 26, 2020. He was born in Havana, Cuba April 29, 1940 to the late Maria Matilde Arano and the late Ramon Collar. Luis was the youngest of seven children (5 brothers and 2 sisters). Luis came to the U.S. in 1960 at the age of 18 and served in the US Army in 1963. His military unit was specially trained for a post Bay of Pigs support mission that was called off. He and his brothers and sisters owned a business in Union City and Hoboken: C&B Bargaintown. Subsequently, Luis became a licensed electrician and worked as the Director of the Engineering Dept in St. Mary's Hospital, Passaic. He was a long-time resident of North Bergen, NJ. Luis was the beloved husband to Feridia Collar (Montadas) for 46 years. He was a loving father to his son, Luis and his wife Kirsten; to his daughter Marlene and her husband Alex. A great joy in his life was his granddaughter Olivia Collar. He is survived by his sister Maria Aleida Hernandez and his sister-in-law Zahydee Hernandez as well a many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, 5pm-8pm at Morgado Funeral Home, 525 45th St, Union City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 10:15am at the Church of Saint Joseph of the Palisades, 6401 Palisades Ave, West New York. Entombment will follow at Flower Hill Cemetery in North Bergen, NJ.
