Doris R. Ditsworth 1929—2018
Doris R. Ditsworth, 89, of Freeport, IL, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Monday, September 3, 2018. She was born January 28, 1929; the daughter of the late Arthur and Lydia (Beyers) Brinkmeier. She married Clarence Ditsworth on May 11, 1947; he passed on March 19, 1991. Doris had worked for Micro Switch for several years. She had attended Ebenezer-Salem United Church of Christ in Loran. Camping was very important to her. She was also an avid bowler and enjoyed gardening. She loved getting together with her sisters every month for their "Monthly Sisters Club." Doris is survived by her daughters, Janice (Al) McAuliffe and Kathy (Butch) Neuschwander, both of Freeport; daughters-in-law, Julie Ditsworth and Laurie Ditsworth; son-in-law, John Weaver; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 great- great-grandchildren; brothers, Dennis Brinkmeier of Lena, IL and Keith (Pat) Brinkmeier; and sisters, Elaine Bicker of Lanark, IL, Betty Kohn of McConnell, IL, LaVonne Liphart of South Wayne, WI and Arlene Camerer of Freeport. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; sons, Conley Ditsworth Sr. and Larry Ditsworth; daughter, Jean Weaver; brothers, Mervin, Verlin and Gerald Brinkmeier; and sisters, Evelyn Buss and Myrna Kampmeier.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Walker Mortuary in Freeport, with visitation before the service beginning at 9 a.m. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established in her name. Condolences may be shared with her family at www.walkermortuary.com.
