Alta will be missed. We used to talk in the mornings when I would walk my dog by her house. Always a positive word to say! I used to look forward to seeing her.

Alta and I had some extraordinary experiences in collaborating about some of her talent shows. We enjoyed kibbutzing about students over the years. We kept in touch and enjoyed exchanging herring and pastries every Christmas. I really looked forward to her spontaneous comments about our daily challenges in the schools. My wife and I will miss her.

Mrs. McCarthy was my 6th grade teacher at Cumberland School. I had a chance to reconnect with her at my 8th grade reunion a couple of years ago, and also at various other school events. She had such a zest for life and clearly loved teaching and the students she taught. She will be greatly missed!

Mrs. McCarthy was a phenomenal woman. She expected your best effort and wouldn't tolerate anything less. She also had a terrific smile and laugh. Thanks for teaching us what's important in life and how to live, Mrs. McCarthy - thank you. God bless.

Mrs. McCarthy was the best teacher ever, for me and for many many others I am sure. To this day, I can remember things we learned from her in 6th grade back in 1967. She made a difference in her students' lives.

Mrs. McCarthy was my 6th grade teacher, and what a gifted teacher she was. She taught outside of the box, which in turn motivated her students to love learning. I will miss her.
