Psalm 90:10 says that the days of our years are 70 years, And if because of special mightiness they are 80 years.
May the memories of the wonderful times you shared together bring a smile and joy in your heart.

MY CONDOLENCES TO THE LERNER FAMILY WITH RESPECT TO THE PASSING OF BESS LERNER. BESIDES BEING A CLASSY LADY, SHE WAS A MOST TALENTED WOMAN AS THE STAR OF THE YIDDISH SPEAKING MILWAUKEE THEATRE GROUP CALLED THE PERHIFT PLAYERS FOR MANY YEARS AS I RECALL, ALWAYS BASED AT THE MILWAUKEE JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTERS, ON MILWAUKEE STREET, EARLY ON, AND THEN ON PROSPECT AVENUE. ALTHOUGH, THERE WERE OTHER GREAT TALENTS, WHO HAVE PASSED ON, BESS AND HER HUSBAND HENRY, WERE ALWAYS THE NUCLEUS WHEN ANOTHER PLAY WAS ANNOUNCED IN WHICH REHEARSALS WERE ABOUT TO BE STARTING. RUTH STEIN, HENRY'S SISTER, ALSO INVOLVED IN THE YIDDISH THEATRE LIVED A HALF BLOCK AWAY FROM ME FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS.

ALTHOUGH IT'S BEEN 40 YEARS SINCE I LEFT MILWAUKEE FOR SUNNY LOS ANGELES AND CHANGING CAREERS FROM BEING A WELL KNOWN MILWAUKEE POLICE OFFICER INVESTIGATOR FOR OVER 18 PLUS YEARS, GROWING UP AND HAVING MY GRANDMOTHER LIVING IN OUR HOME, YIDDISH, WAS THE SURVIVAL LANGUAGE.

OUT OF ALL THE GRAND CHILDREN FROM AN EXTREMELY LARGE AND EXTENDED FAMILY, I WAS THE ONLY YIDDISH CONVERSANT SPEAKER AND APPRECIATED SPEAKING AND UNDERSTANDING THE LANGUAGE, WHEN THE JEWISH HOME FOR THE AGED, WAS ON N. 50TH, NEAR LISBON AVE. AND VISITED THE RESIDENTS, WHO CAME FROM EUROPE AND WERE FRIGHTENED AT FIRST OF THE POLICE UNIFORM, UNTIL I SPOKE YIDDISH TO THEM, AND THEN THEY WORRIED, WHEN I WAS ON ANOTHER ASSIGNMENT AWAY FROM THAT AREA.

WOW, 99 YEARS OF AGE. I HOPE BESS WAS IN AS GOOD A SHAPE AS POSSIBLE WITH THAT LONGEVITY BEHIND HER

DONALD H. PINSKER, STARTED WORKING IN BROADCASTING IN 1955 AND HELPED BUILD WMVS-TV, CHANNEL 10, LATER EMPLOYED BY WITI-TV, CHANGED CAREERS AND BECAME A POLICE OFFICER INVESTIGATOR, 1962-1980 AND RETURNED TO BROADCASTING.

RETIRED BROADCAST ENGINEER, THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK, WEST COAST HEADQUARTERS TELEVISION CITY, HOLLYWOOD / LOS ANGELES, 1982-2005

STILL PERFORMING THE MUSIC OF SINATRA, TONY BENNETT AND NAT "KING" COLE AT AGE 82 AND SOUNDING BETTER THAN EVER, BUT IN LAS VEGAS.
