Don Brown was a trusted friend and an indispensible mentor for nearly 40 years. I met him through the local NAWCC chapter in 1978. He was extraordinarily knowledgeable about (among other things) clocks and watches, invited me into his and Joyce's home, shared his collection, and taught me a great deal. After our family moved from Milwaukee, Don remained a strong friend and was more helpful during some stressful times than he ever knew. His upbeat attitude and his Missouri Hound Dog Philosophy (not quite repeatable here!) influenced me greatly. I will always remember his outlook on life, his gentle manner, and his phenomenal knowledge. Requiem aeternam dona ei.

Joyce,

I'm sorry to hear about the passing of Don. I met you and Don after joining Kelsey Hayes in 1969. I enjoyed working with Don at Kelsey Hayes but, after leaving I would see him at some SAE activities. But I had the fortune of working again with Don at Hayes Brake after joining the company in 1994. Also, enjoyed being a close neighbor and having many dinners with you guys. I will miss the frequent telephone calls with Don after relocating to Florida.

Joycesad news. I've known Don for a long time. I think he was in the class after me in the Chrysler Instituteclass of '55?--56? One thing I remembered was that his interest in clocks was started when he bought a collection referred to him by one of the technicians I worked with in the Chrysler brake dyno lab. And, of course I worked with him at Kelsey Hayes.

He was always a smart engineer and a sweet guy.
