Dear Sandra,

Susan Silverstein sent me a note a few days ago about the death of Norm Stern, Scott's father. I'm very sorry to hear about the death of your father-in-law. But judging from the obituary, it sounds like he had a very good life.
I'm out in Germany now, on a Fulbright fellowship. Your father-in-law, I believe, was born in Waldalgesheim. I'm in Halle -- an old university town near Leipzig. I'll be here until July 31, 2018. If I recall, Scott travels to Germany fairly frequently. If his travels lead him near Halle (before 7/31/18!), I hope we can get together.

Best,
Robert (Burt) Louden

Sylvia, Scott, Lisa... my deepest sympathies for your loss. I grew up knowing all of you and always enjoying the banter with Norm and listening to him tell Scott to stop wearing his shoes.
When Scott and I were in high school, Norm would be outdoors running miles to stay in shape....a man clearly ahead of his time.
I remember first visiting him along with Scott at Kupper on Farwell to see what he did and then ended up working summers at Sales Guides when he started it on Prospect and then at Sydney Place in Glendale. He was always fun to be around, a great businessman, a leader, and a visionary. While he will be missed by all of us the memories and experiences of his life will continue to live on.

Condolences to Scott, Sandy, Lisa and the entire Stern family on the loss of your father. Norm was a true American hero, a business innovator, and honest to his core. It was a privilege to have known him and worked for him at Norscot.
