Martha was blessed to have so many wonderful people in her life, for which she was very grateful. While impossible to name them all, Martha's family wishes to especially thank the Marquette University community and her neighborhood family for their kindness, generosity and support as well as the medical staff at Froedtert Hospital for their care and compassion.

Not sure what to say?

We recently found out that Martha's journey has ended. Our friendship started in Spain with the MU alumni trip. We kept in touch and she helped us plan future trips. After her diagnosis, we offered our support and many prayers. The journey is over but the memories are forever.

I just learned this news and am broken hearted. I met Martha in Spain in 2012 on a Marquette alumni trip. She reached out to me as I was a solo and knew no one on the trip. As a result we became friends and I made 2 other, now dear friends. We only met up a few times and talked or emailed infrequently but she made a deep impression on me. My condolences to her family, many friends and coworkers and so many others touched by her kindness.

Martha and I worked together at my studio for three years. She was a great, happy and wonderful assistant, often flying away to distant jobs with me. We had a lot of fun, and I enjoyed every day that I saw her bustling around. Occasional rubber band gunfights often broke any boredom. My business was the most profitable during her time with me, and my clients loved chatting with her.
Our biannual lunches with Grace Sheldon will be sorely missed.

I met Martha twenty years ago through mutual friends Elizabeth Meyer and Pam Garvey. I will always remember her positive outlook, her beautiful smile and her love for all things Marquette. A life ended far too soon. My prayers and hugs for her family, colleagues and many friends.

I knew Martha from the Milwaukee Protestant Home. She greeted me warmly and with great kindness. I cherish the brief time I knew her and learned so much from her selfless giving.

I so enjoyed seeing Martha whenever I was back at Marquette working with the Alumni Relations team. Like others said she was always there with a smile and positive vibe that anything was possible! She also always shared her enthusiasm for all things Marquette and her extended alumni family!! In particular, her work making the Pedro Arrupe Award Dinner special and so personal for the recipient was something I experienced with her for many years as a member of the related committee. Around then she went to London for our first international alumni event, and I couldn't think of a better "ambassador"!! You are missed and loved, Greg (President MU Alumni Assn. 2013)

Martha was truly one of a kind! She ALWAYS had a smile on her face and ALWAYS offered to help with whatever task there was at hand. As our alumni engagement officer, she was such a friend to the College of Health Sciences and will be truly missed for her effervescent personality and her tireless energy in supporting the college and university. To Martha's family, thank you for opening the doors to all of us as we visited Martha during her illness.

I had the privilege to call Martha my colleague and friend at Marquette. She was funny and kind and exuded class and style, all while remaining genuine and down to earth. I always enjoyed her company immensely. My deepest condolences to all who loved her.

My sincere condolences and sympathies to your family at this difficult time. Marty had such a great positive personality! I remember so many instances from First Place West! Oh so many years ago! Every time I ran into her it was like nothing had changed! Always so exuberant! It is a sad day but she will be watching over you. I know how hard it is to lose a sibling-same age -as Martha! So hard.
Prayers for all of you.

Martha was truly one of the beautiful souls. Her warmth and compassion and generosity were without bounds. From the moment we met, I knew she was a special woman of faith who loved her family, friends, and community. I treasure the memories I have of our time together - we both enjoyed our dining experiences and our many laughs. I will miss you, dear friend, as you travel onward, light as a feather.
