My Dad was the source of warmth in my childhood.

I remember his giant bear hugs when he got home, he would line us kids up in a row and tell us to run full force at him and tackle him with all we've got. Then we would wrap ourselves around his legs as he effortlessly ambled through the house acting like he didn't know we were attached to him like giggling barnacles.

I remember riding on his giant shoulders -- so tall I had to duck when we walked through the house, it was utterly terrifying but I always knew he would catch me if something went wrong.

I remember him holding me in one of his arms while standing in church talking to a friend of his... I was just staring at my Dad with his big booming voice, and he suddenly realized there was drool collecting on his nice jacket. "Oh c'mon Jeremy!" with a laugh, and then took me to the bathroom to clean up. We drank from the sink with our hands cupped.

I remember him getting up for work before the sun rose, and for some reason I found myself waking up shortly before him every day, in the dark and cold, waiting for him to get up and watch him while he got ready for work. He had a certain calmness about him which made me feel safe. I can still see him tying his shoes with his Coleman lunchbox ready for the day.

I remember hoping I would be able to wear shoes as big as his when I grew up -- size 13! Well guess what Dad? I got you by 2 sizes!

I remember when he came on a field trip to see the movie "Indian in the Cupboard" and everyone wanted to know who's Dad was the man who dwarfed everyone around him. That was MY Dad!!

I miss you Dad, and I'm going to you proud every day of my life. You were my world as a child and you will continue to be a part of me for the rest of my life. I love you.

To all the Family and especially Jess, my heart goes out to you. I know Jess very well, and she has always spoken lovingly about her Dad. He lives on in her bright eyes, warm smile, and readily abundant generosity. I am sure the joy and love she shares has much to do with her Dad. God Bless, and God Speed.

I always saw my dad as larger than life. He consistently put everyone before himself and never wavered, EVER, on how much he loved every single person who ever was lucky enough to cross his path. I'll never forget the wonder of how one giant bear hug would make the whole world a kinder, safer and more loving place. Above all else, I'm sincerely grateful you finally have the peace you so deserved.
I'll always love you, Dad. I miss you more!
