Mary Ellen & Ralph, you have our very deepest sympathy in the loss of your son. Our hearts are heavy at the thought of loosing a child. He is surely in a better place. Take comfort knowing he is in heaven.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this. I met Will at UW-Madison, and he remained my closest friend up to this point. He was kind, smart, articulate, witty, and a constant source of good vibes. I've probably shared more laughs and inside jokes with Will than I have with anybody else. Whether meeting up with him to go disc golfing or bowling, going to a music show, or going out for drinks, it was a guaranteed good time. You always knew what to say and do to bring out smiles.

His eclectic taste in media of all kinds, but especially music, has deeply influenced me. We used to go to a lot of Minus The Bear shows, singing along with all the lyrics and yelling "Yar!" at the band. I can't put my music on shuffle for ten minutes without hearing a song that we connected over.

I wish we could have hung out more these last few years, but in 2014 moved to Singapore to do a PhD. Distance didn't stop Will from flying across the world to come to my wedding and be my best man. Though not nearly as much as I'd have liked, I'm glad I got to come back to the U.S. a couple times since then and hang out with him. He was like a brother to me, and my family loved him very much.

I'm sorry I can't say this in person. My deepest condolences go to Will's family. The world lost a very special person. Some stars shine so bright that they burn out before their time.

Rest in peace, dear friend.
