To the Brewer Kids-I am so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed your Mom. I remember skating with her on Sunday nights at family skating club in Kalamazoo and have memories of Helen being ever present during the Junior Boy's National Tennis Championships at K College, where it seems many Kalamazoo families were involved. She took family photos of us when she first started out as a photographer. Helen and my Mom were friends in the Service Club in Kalamazoo.

I apologize for the late note to you. I just learned of your Mom's passing. My significant other is a Handelsman, who is a great nephew of Harold's. He learned about your Mom after doing an internet search related to his family.

It's hard to watch this generation pass.

Hugs to all of you.

Helen's regular presence at the Potrero Death Cafe was an inspiration. Her commitment to the group was as important to her as her participation was to us. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her openness, and her continual reminders to seize the day. She will be sorely missed and long remembered.

My family and I are blessed that Helen created a lasting memory of our family through her artistry with a camera. The first photographs were taken about 1985, when our children were all under the age of 11 and my parents were still living; our favorite hangs on the wall of my living room, where I enjoy it every day. Our family is grateful for her great talent and friendship.

Helen is remembered by staff and docents at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. By chance, "Avocado," a photograph by her in the KIA collection, is on view in an exhibition that just opened this week.
