Sitting in the office, starring at a woman's chart who came here last week for late term abortion due to fetal anomaly. Suddenly all I could think of was Dr. Tiller. I checked the website drtiller.com and nothing's there. I feel empty...and miss him greatly! I know that I am not the only one who misses him, because there is not a day go by to those of us who work at an abortion clinic not to think about Dr. Tiller when we step our feet in. Thank you for being selfless, Dr. Tiller! You are GREATLY MISSED! AJA (Atlanta)

I can't tell you how much Dr Tiller ment to me and my family. At the worst time in my life, he was caring and supportive and helped me to get through the agony of letting go of a pregnancy that was a wanted child from the beginning. I realized while I was there that he protected all of the women there in the same way. I will never understand what happened, but I will pray for you all and continue to tell my story to further the cause that he fought so hard for in his memory.

To the family of Dr. Tiller,

I am so very sorry for your tragic loss. Dr. Tiller was a brave man who fought to help women with the most heartbreaking choice anyone could ever face. He was so kind and compassionate. He helped a few friends of mine who are so grateful to him. They have said many times that they don't know what they would have done without him.

I hope you can take comfort in knowing that Dr. Tiller gave so much compassion and comfort to women in such difficult situations who were terrified, something that has become very rare now.

Take care. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am sorry that it has taken me a while to add something to this guest book, especially as I have been thinking of George Tiller and his family often. I was reminded of my need to write something when I heard on the radio today that Dr. Tiller's clinic will be closing permanently. Dr. Tiller was an amazing doctor with a very big heart. When my 16 yr old daughter found out about the serious medical problems of her little angel she was devastated to say the least. Dr. Tiller was one of the most caring compassionate doctors I have ever met. He understood what my daughter was going through and spent so much time talking with her and guiding her through her loss. He never judged her and he knew how much she loved her baby girl and how she desperately wanted things to be different. Dr. Tiller helped her get through the most difficult and painful time in her life. I am grateful for all of his help and compassion. I think this is a tragedy and I will always be eternally grateful to him for the way he took care of my little angel during the time she was losing her angel. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. May he rest in peace and may peace come to his family.

Thank you for supporting my right to choose when I was a young adult. Many people don't agree with my choice, but I am thankful that Dr. Tiller allowed me to freely carry out my wish at a time when I so desperately needed guidance. There are few doctors in this country who uphold our constitutional right to chooose life and I am glad that I was referred to a physician who provided this service for me without judgement. I am saddened for his family that their husband and father is no longer there. I wish them peace in this difficult time. Please know that he served his cause and patients with the utmost respect.

I mourn for the Tiller family, his patients, and this community. Such a violent loss is not only tragic, but clearly sounds the gong that our community is not at peace. I can only hope that this senseless act of violence will not spark any further hatred.

Deepest sympathy to the family for your loss.

Viktor Franckl wrote in The Meaning Of Life "We who lived in the concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: The last of his freedoms - to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way."
"Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual."
Dr Tiller lived his 'right answer' every day with great courage and hope.
