To John's family: Here it is August and someone is just now shocked and heartbroken to learn of John's passing. Our friendship goes back many years. My late mother, Ruby, and his business partner, Virginia, were friends, so we'd also see John at the antique shows. In the past few years, John would come to the zoo a couple of times a week for exercise. Because I work there, we'd get a chance to talk about what antiques we'd picked up recently, or our late mutual friend, Greg, and this, that and the other. Often John would do a beautiful sketch on our outdoor chalkboard for the kids - "Welcome to the Zoo", maybe with flowers, trees or other flourishes. I just wanted you to know how much I enjoyed and will miss his kindness, friendship, ready smile, and willingness to share his knowledge about antiques! Rest in peace, friend.

The life given to us by nature is short, but the memory of a life well spent is eternal.
