I am so sorry to hear of Bob's passing, and I am sorry that I just now heard about it. Bob was one of my dad's (Max A. Leonard) best friends from grade school, and re-connected years later when my dad was general manager at Dr Pepper Bottling Co. and Bob was an advertising salesman for KAKE radio. Bob would call on Dad every Thursday afternoon for many years, talking politics and everything else other than radio advertising. Then after Dad passed away, Bob would come by on Thursday afternoons and take me to play golf with him. He was quite a guy, and will be missed very much. The last time I saw Bob was several years ago, when he was 95, still flipping pancakes for the Lions Club. He told me that his goal was to live to be 113 yrs old, so he could be a teenager again.

I am sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I knew Bob from his time selling radio advertising at KBRA to me at Star Lumber. Bob and I struck up a friendship that lasted through the years.
He touched my life while relating early day stories of advertising here in Wichita from years before.
I had Bob paint old time "now historical" Wichita River Festival "RiverStar" banners by hand.
I just happened to think of Bob and his sign painting and went to look him up on the internet when I came accross his obituary.
I always looked forward to see Bob at the Lion's Pancake Days.

Bob was a wonderful friend to me. Having known him at Grace Presbyterian Church, it was my honor to get to help him with rides to church each sunday...for several sunday's Bob would say to me, "When are you going to play me some Christmas carols on the pipe organ...
I hesitate at first, but he was a persistent fellow so I offered him a ride to church...I thouth it was fun picking him up that day and my wife Heather was with me, and so we took our boy to Ziggies for pizza and then to Grace for a"little Angels We Have Heard on High"........when it was all over, Bob had a big smile on his face.....but you know what..
I was the person given a gift that day by Bob.. he took us by his old home near downtown and showed us the original Grace Church where he had joined....but I did nothing for him compared to the love and Grace he gave to me that day by accepting me and singing our carol with a magnificent smile on his face...Thank you Bob for giving us the gift of your love...I will never forget you. I served with Bob in the Wichita Downtown Lions Club for 14 years. He was a member for over 50 years and worked many Pancake days from start to finish. He was the best pancake flipper there ever was. He will be missed by all. Prayers for the family.

What a guy! He enjoyed life and was so pleasant to be around. Loved to sing and made us all want to join him. I lived right across the hall from him and as we opened our doors each morning to greet each other, he would always say, "how do I know what time you are leaving every morning?" He will be sorely missed by everyone at Via Christi McLean Village

Bob was a scout leader of Troop 509 when I was growing up. He taught good values and how to be a good leader to many young boys, including me. Bob loved to cook and would often take over the cooking on camping tips and summer camp, so the boys could play and focus on their merit badge. It also assured that he would get a good meal every night! Bob and his wife helped in fund raisers for the church youth group. Bob always signed up to flip pancakes for the youth group AND would often be seen flipping pancakes at the Lions Club annual pancake feed. He was always the greeter at church services. He was a great man.
