We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Nichols. He was a wonderful man and worked with my late husband, Bruce for many years. Mr. Nichols was the best!!

Our prayers are with his family and wish them peace.

My heart goes out to Jackie and the Nichols family. From my earliest days with the railroad Gerry was a positive influence for me, not only with the railroad but in life. He always treated everyone equally, with dignity and respect.

Evelyn and I have many great memories of times shared with Jackie and Gerry. I count Gerry as one of my true friends in life and will miss him. My memories of him will live on.

During my career with the L&N and Seaboard, it was my great fortune to know Gerry. During his leadership, I often reported to him concerning my duties in connection as Manager-Office Equipment. He was always fair and pleasant. He was truly a "railroader."

How do you say goodbye to a man who has touched so many lives? It is so hard to summarize and put into words what this man meant to me. He was a gentle giant, a leader who led by example, a compassionate and humble man, philosophical at times but thoughtful always, generous with his time, and all the while, quietly loving from within.
God speed Gerry for this world is a little less today without you but heaven's stars are so much brighter by your presence.
With love and honor to a great man
Mark & Ann Johnson
