I met John while he was working for the railroad in Somerset, KY. We became friends and he blessed me with some poetry he had written, a 1939 Readers Digest and a beautiful bonsai tree. All of this was in the early 80's and I still hold these near and dear to me and my heart. John was a wise man, a true gentleman. I hadn't seen or talked to John since the early 90's and happen to stumble upon his obituary tonight. John, may you forever rest in peace my friend, I am so sorry to find out of your passing 2 years later. Soar with the angels dear friend.

A Memory: I think I was (one of) John's girlfriends in high school. He was an amazing guy: at the age of 15 spouting wry and very appropriate passages from Shakespeare to dazzle the girls; playing piano beautifully....but, as noted, marching to a very different drummer all the while. I'm sorry I never saw him after we graduated.

Please let me express my condolences to Bobbie Lee, Shannon, and all John's family. It is with regret that I did not know him.
I was doing family research today and stumbled on this obituary. I was pleased that so much of this family history is recorded here.
John truly must have been an amazing fellow. Please know you all are in my thoughts today. I am sorry for your loss.
