Though I only got to see Mary Carol at Salato Center activities or B.O.W events, I considered her a good friend. She loved the outdoors and her native plants. She was so inspiring that I planted a butterfly garden this spring. I've named it Mary Carol's garden as a tribute to her. Everytime something new blooms, I think of her. She and her contagious smile and personality will truly be missed.

Just read Ray Berry's wonderful tribute to Mary Carol in the Cumberland newsletter. Stunned is the only word that comes to mind......she is one of those eternal people whose beauty and vitality will live on in all of us....what will we do without her?

Years ago I attended some Sierra Club events, and Mary Carol is the person I remember best. She reached out to me, as she did everyone, in the most friendly and encouraging way. I admired her spirit and her passionate love for nature and protecting the environment. Of all the Sierra club members I met, I found her the most inspirational. I am sorry to hear of her passing. She was a really great lady.

Mary Carol befriended me in E'town in the 60's. I think Kelly was a baby, & I remember how happy a mother she was, & it was fun seeing her joy in taking care of Kelly. That carried through with me when I had my daughter. We lost touch when I left Ky. and the family settled in Lexington. I enjoyed reading about her life and her influence on others.
