Every night I pray for his soul. May he be rejoicing in the glory of God.

Dear Barbara and Mark,
Prayers and thoughts from our family to yours on the loss of your son Matthew, truly a fallen hero. I have trying to find the right time and words to offer as a small measure of condolence. Our son Paul is a Combat Controller at Hurlburt, and he attended the Memorial there for your son as he knew him. Another of our sons, James, was an Air Force Academy grad from class of 2006 who we buried at Arlington almost 3 years ago as he lost his life in Afghanistan April 3 2013. We know your pain. I pray that your faith will get you through this. I am a tour guide at the Basilica of the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in DC, and my time there is one of the things that helps me the most. I also know you will never be the same and the feelings of loss will be with you forever. If I can help in any way, please feel free to reach out to me at [email protected]
We were honored to have Phil Taylor (American Fallen Soldiers Project) paint a portrait of our son which means a lot, and perhaps you might be interested in requesting one from Phi if you haven't heard about him already. Also, some of the cadet squadrons are putting together Memorials in the halls at the Air Force Academy (a cadet in our son's squadron, the same one my husband and I were in) is working on one for James at the moment.
Again, our hearts go out to you...
Most sincerely,
Dee and Bob and the whole Steel family

The Trapp family is still mourning the loss of Matthew. He touched our lives with his graciousness, humor, and dedication. We loved him as a son and brother. Our prayers are with Barb and Mark and the rest of Matthew's family, especially with the approach of his birthday and the Christmas season. We - like all who knew Matthew - are better people because of him.

Matthew, thinking of you today, and also yesterday, saw some previous co-workers yesterday and shared with them your death and they like others were shocked and did not know, rest in peace my brother, and again thanks
