CAPLE Patricia Ellen (Dupler), 70, went to be with her Lord on Sun., Aug. 31, 2014. Pat was born May 31, 1944 in Cincinnati, OH. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Rev. Dr. William J. Caple; her two children James Caple and Christina Caple Harrison (Rev. Christopher); her five grandchildren Matthew, Claire, and Evelyn Caple, Nicholas and Jessica Harrison; her father James R. Dupler; and her two sisters Harriett Hanke (Rev. Jay) and Connie Ramsey (Tom). She was preceded in death by her mother Harriett Gregg Pavey Dupler. Pat graduated from High School in Chateauroux, France. She received her B.S. in Elementary Education from the Ohio State University and her Maters in Education from Georgetown College. She also attended Louisville Presbyterian Seminary, where she studied to complete her candidacy for the United Methodist Ministry. She taught elementary school at Eastern Elementary in Scott County KY, Enon Elementary, OH, Jay Allen Elementary, High Point, NC, Nathanael Green Elementary, Guilford County, NC, Kitzingen Elementary, Kitzingen Germany, Park Village Elementary, San Antonio, TX, Patch Barracks Elementary, Stuttgart Germany, and Matthew C. Perry Elementary, Iwakuni, Japan. She held teaching licenses from KY, IN, FL, TX and Department of Defense Schools. Pat served as supply pastor for the Christney UM Charge, Christney, IN; Program Director for Centenary UMC, Evansville, IN; and as church receptionist/ secretary for Erlanger UMC, Erlanger, KY, University UMC, San Antonio, TX, and Covenant Presbyterian Church, San Antonio, TX. Pat was very active as a Pastor's wife in every church they served. She worked with troubled teen girls at Randolph Macon Academy, sang in chapel choirs, taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School Director, family ministry, youth ministry, ministry to older members, food pantry (St. Vincent DePaul) Sunday School music director, Docent for Hillcrest, Aurora, IN, and served as a pastoral visitor. Pat loved to garden and be outside, she loved to play games and loved studying her Bible. Pat loved to be around people. She brightened everyone's life with her magnificent smile and empathetic listening skills. She was a member of Centenary UMC in Lexington, KY. Honorary Pallbearers are Harriett Hanke, Connie Ramsey, Jane Spargur, Cathy Parry, Pam Lafferty, Mary Vollmer, Ann Caple, Pam Caple, CC Zanio, Dr. Rachael Harper, Lois Porter and Joyce Garret. The memorial service will be 11am, Friday, Sept 5, 2014 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 2800 Tates Creek Road, Lexington, KY 40502. Visitation will be 10am Friday until the time of service. Inurnment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Pat's honor can be made to the endowment fund at Centenary United Methodist Church, Lexington, KY. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home Harrodsburg Rd. is in charge of arrangements.
