SOMERSET -Gregory Jordan Bushong entered into eternal life on January 17, 2018, in Somerset, Kentucky. Greg was born on June 5, 1963, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the loving son of Larry and Wanda Holloway Bushong. He was a graduate of Somerset High School and Somerset Vocational School and attended Somerset Community College. He worked for years as an auto mechanic and was known to be able to fix anything. He was a "jack of all trades", who could remodel a home or fix any computer. Greg was an avid reader and a fearless animal advocate. He was a dedicated volunteer for the Pulaski County Humane Society and was a Master Gardener. He was "always a Briar Jumper", a loyal UK fan and the ultimate NASCAR fan. Greg was known as a very kind and generous person, who loved his family unconditionally, and they will forever cherish his sweet memories. He is survived by his mother, Wanda Mabry, of Somerset; his father, Larry (Joyce) Bushong, of Glasgow; his sons, Nicolas (Haley) Bushong, of Louisville, and Conner Bushong, of Somerset; his very special, long time friend, Cheryl Cecil, of Bronston; his aunt, Dr. Rhonda (Ben) Cormney, of Richmond; his uncle, Jim G. (Janet) Holloway, of Glasgow; his cousins, Kyle, Gabe and Regan Cormney, and Wesley and Cameron Holloway; his faithful canine companion, Amber Doodle. His NASCAR buddies and online friends from around the country, who knew him as "Boonie West", will also mourn his passing. Greg is preceded in death by his step-father, Marvin Mabry; his grandparents, James G. and Maxie Carter Holloway and Ernest and Julia Smith Bushong; and his great-uncle, William Holloway. Visitation will be Saturday, January 20, 2018, after 12:00 noon, EST, at the Somerset Undertaking Company Chapel. A Celebration of the Life of Gregory Jordan Bushong will be held on Saturday, at 2:00 p.m., EST, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Burt McGlawn officiating. Musical selections will be performed by John Neikirk. A private committal service will be held in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, in Tompkinsville, at a later date. Memorials are requested, in Greg's memory, to the Pulaski County Humane Society, P.O. Box 448, Somerset, KY 42502. You may send condolences to the family and sign the online register book at www.somersetundertaking.com. Somerset Undertaking Company is in charge of arrangements.

I am so very shocked and saddened to learn of Greg's (Boonie) passing. His passion for life was infectious. His quick wit and sence of humor shined so brightly. His love of his family, friends and critters we're like no other.
My deepest condolences to Greg's Mom, family and his many friends.
You will be missed Boon Shine. God speed my friend.

Dear Wanda,
I am so sorry for your loss. It saddens me to hear that Greg was called home so early in life. I wish I would had a chance to see him so many of times I have visited home. Greg meant so much to me growing up. I can say I am glad that I got to know this great guy and for all who knew him, Greg was always a great person to talk to. He was like a Uncle to me and that is exactly what I called him "Uncle Greg" I will miss him. You take care and always know he is in Gods care now.

Greg BooneCat Bushong was a great human being and an exceptional soul. His humor and quick wit were only superseded by his incredible passion for life and his love of friends music & animals. I had the honor and pleasure of spending much quality time with Greg over these past few years and I will never forget all the great memories that we made together. Time with him was THE BEST. We had an annual rendezvous with our mutual friend Marcus in North Carolina. We would tour the towns and visit all the great establishments then spend evenings fireside sipping and laughing at all our stories. I miss him so very much. I don't want to be sad for his passing, I want to be happy that I got to know him and was his friend. He had 1,116 good friends on twitter. Folks from all over the country have written to express their condolences. He was memorialized on NASCAR shows by Radio persoanalities and his name will be honored on three separate race cars when this season opens. I wish his family peace & comfort in their time of loss but know that Greg leaves a legacy of love and light in the hearts of so very many around this great country that he loved so very much. He will be missed, but never forgotten. - Mike @wallyaction Waldow
