MAINOUS Jacqueline "Jacquie" Cooke Purdy, wife of Joseph E. Mainous Sr., widow of Frank R. Purdy died Wed. March 30, 2016 in Naples, FL. A longtime resident of Lexington, Jacquie was born Aug 3, 1928 in Greenville. She was the daughter of the late L.R. Cooke, Sr. and Verna Pace Cooke Whitehouse. She graduated from University High School and attended Stephens College and the University of Kentucky. She was a beloved Sunday school teacher and member of Calvary Baptist Church, The Metropolitan Women's Club, Town and Country Garden Club, High Street Neighborhood Center Board, and Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni Association. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Frank R. "Rusty" Purdy III and his wife, Frankie, of Lexington; a daughter, Lyn Purdy Voige and her husband, John, of Richmond, VA; children by marriage, Ann Eston Mainous (Hayes) Whiteside and Joseph E. "Joe Ed" (Christina) Mainous, Jr.; nine grandchildren, Alden Purdy (Dan) Pinkham, Laura Purdy (Alex) Heister, Russ (Simmons) Purdy, Julia "Mimi" Purdy, Web Voige, Jaclyn Voige, Grace Ann Whiteside, Eston Whiteside and Remy Mainous. She was preceded in death by two brothers, L.R. Cooke, Jr. and John R. Cooke. Funeral services will be 11:30am Wed, April 6, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Lexington Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are members of her Sunday School Class, Doyle Baker, Reuben Naylor, Bill Simmons and Bill McCord. Visitation will be 4 to 8pm Tue at the church. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main St. is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church, 150 East High St., Lexington, KY 40507; Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Charlotte Chapter, 4600 Park Rd., Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28209; Newburgh Young Life, 5088 South Plaza Dr., Newburgh, IN 47630.
