Doctor Bob was a unique and wonderful individual. As a veterinarian, he proclaimed all prognoses to be "guarded," but as an adventurer, he lived life "unguarded." We should all emulate the attitude with which he approached these ephemeral moments on Earth. His passing has made me re-double my appreciation for the times we spent together, hovering over a sick mare or foal, watching air shows from our hilltop by the airport, or avoiding shoals while sailing in the Chesapeake Bay. These were among life's gems and I shall always treasure them.

Dr. Hensley was a great coach, teacher, and mentor. Lexington was a better place with him in it, and Lexington Fencing Club would have never existed without his generous spirit and dedication - he taught us so much more than fencing!

I enjoyed talking with Bob about his adventures and art. I have a few of his prints that he made to raise money to clear mine fields. He was a renaissance man always on a journey.

We have one of Bob's paintings in our dining room. We have missed his presence at UUCL.
