LESSIG Claude A. Jr., 84, of Lexington, died Thursday, May 25, 2017 at his residence. Born November 8, 1932 in Raleigh, NC to the late Claude A. Sr. and Stella Hodge Lessig, he was a retired civil engineer and former Senior Vice President of GRW Engineers Inc., member of the Centenary United Methodist Church and United States Army Reserves called up with the 100th Division. Claude was a member of the Oleika Shrine Temple, Mason Lodge #1 and former board member of the Nathaniel Mission. He is fondly remembered for playing guitar and singing with family and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother in-law, Hughie Maples and a sister-in-law, Myrtle Dixon. He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Maples "Gwen" Lessig; three daughters, Karen (Roger) Lane, Dayton, OH, Pamela Lessig Kromski, Tarpon Springs, FL and Jill Lessig, Newport, KY; a son, Alan (Robbyn) Lessig, Haymarket, VA; a brother, William T. Lessig, Raleigh, NC; three grandsons, Grant Owens, Calvin Lane and Douglas Lane; two granddaughters, Claudia Lessig and Claire Lessig; two nephews, Michael Lessig and Craig Lessig; two nieces, Susan Hutchison and Cindy Arneson; a great niece, Jenny Hutchison and special friends, The Mielcarek Family. Funeral services will be conducted 12pm Tuesday at Milward Southland. Visitation will be from 4-7pm Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery. Dear Gwen & Family,
Please accept my sympathy. It seems that Claude enjoyed a rich and full life. I'm sure he'll be missed but will live on in your memories. Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to get to know him as an adult other than a few phone calls over the years.
