TEBBS John Hood. The time has come to let the big horse run. It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the death of John Hood Tebbs, who passed away on Oct 15th surrounded by loved ones. John was born in Winchester in 1945 where he lived for most of his life, and spent most of his time farming with his family and painstakingly restoring the family homestead. He met his devoted wife, Mary, in Louisville, KY almost 50 years ago and spent the rest of his life together raising twin daughters, Susan and Julia. He was an avid horse racing fan and Chevy car enthusiast and often traveled to venues to enjoy these pastimes. He was an active member of the Second Presbyterian Church and truly enjoyed the fellowship of the church. He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Susan (Matt Richey) and Julia (Christopher Newman); granddaughter, Madeline; his sisters, Susan Tebbs and Kitty Douglas; nephews, Jim Scott and Doug Scott; and great-nephew, Graves Cowee. A private service for family and friends will be held graveside at the Lexington Cemetery with a memorial service to follow at 1pm Tuesday at the Second Presbyterian Church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice East, 407 Shoppers Drive, Winchester, KY 40391 or your local Humane Society.

I came to know John through our mutual ownership of vintage Chevrolets. He gave willingly of his friendship and shared his love of horse racing with this novice as I enjoyed watching a few races at Keeneland with he and Mary. The place we live in is now more drab and empty that John is gone, but now he enjoys the joy and splendor that is Heaven.

Thinking of all the big smiles cousin John would always have on his face when the family was all together.
I pray Mary, Julia, Susan and Susan (sister) find peace that he is with all the other family that have crossed over. I know they were all there waiting for his arrival with love and open arms.
Much love,
