Jean Marie Dodd
Bremerton, WA
May 24, 1935 to Dec. 27, 2018
Jean Marie Dodd, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, December 27th at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She was born May 24th, 1935 to Kenneth (Bud) and Lillian Thomas (Hanson) in Bremerton, WA. Jean grew up spending most of her years in Bremerton along with her only sibling, Dale Thomas (Emilie). She attended Elementary school, Junior High and High School in Bremerton and graduated from Bremerton High School with the class of 1953. It was in Junior High where she met her true love and future husband Richard 'Dick' Dodd. He captured her heart and they married on June 26, 1954. The couple were married for 64 years and have been living at the same house in Bremerton they bought 60 years ago. They raised three sons, Rick (Cheri), Mark (Kelli) and Larry (Lisa). She was very proud of her sons and believed, without a doubt, they were her perfect boys. But she found her role in that of Grandma to be most rewarding, loving every moment she spent with them. Her grandchildren; Brandon, Taylor, Shelby, Brei, Craig and Alycia, spent hours at her home making the best memories and shared the happiest times together. She was also given 4 great-grandchildren who she cherished. Throughout these years she was a Lady of Elks (60 years) serving on many committees, loved a lunch at her favorite casino and watching her Mariners and Seahawks. Jean was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, her sons and families along with her brother and Aunt Gloria Hanson with lots of cousins, nieces, and nephews and many friends she considered family. Jean was a true friend, she never met a stranger for long and loved deeply. We hated to let you go, but we take comfort in knowing you are not suffering and will cherish our memories as you live on in our hearts every day.
Memorial service will be January 18th, 4:00 pm at the Bremerton Elks Lodge - 4131 Pine Road NE, Bremerton, WA. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Elks Children's Therapy Program. Arrangements entrusted to Lewis Chapel.

Heaven has gained a beautiful Angel. Sending love and comfort to the entire Dodd family during this sad season. Jean had a special way of bringing beauty everywhere she went, through her beautiful smile, radiant personality, and the love she exuded for her family and for life was infectious! She was also very talented and to this day,one of Jean's signature driftwood paintings is gracing the wall of my mother's kitchen! I hope she finds my dad in Heaven, so they can reminisce about the good times our families shared together.
Rest in love, Jean, you will be missed.
Much love,

It was a great blessing to grow up in a neighborhood with Jean Dodd as one of our guardian mothers, looking out for of all us kids on the block. She provided a creative and fun place for kids to gather and play by sharing her home and family. A wonderful woman who left behind a great legacy of smiles and kindness. My deepest condolences to all of her family. -Patrick Cooper
