Ken Rounds passed away peacefully with his family and friends by his side on March 30, 2018 at the Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He was born in Coeur d'Alene on May 21, 1942 to Esther Gullickson and Laverne Rounds. After graduation in 1960 from CdA High, he enlisted in the USMC. After his 4-year military tour, he studied welding and worked at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, WA. The highlight of his career was as the Superintendent of the Welding Shop at the Ship Repair Facility, US Naval Base in Subic, Philippines, where he worked for eleven years. He returned to PSNS and retired in 1993 after 30 years of service.
Ken was married to Carol Bowersox in Federal Way, WA, and they had one daughter Holly. Ken loved his family, and their happiness was his goal in life. He was a gentle and affable man, a natural leader, and was loved by people whose lives were touched by his kindness and generosity. He loved golf and gardening.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Carol and his brothers: Keith Barker, Max Barker, Stan Barker, and Johnny Rounds.
He is survived by his daughter, Holly (Joel) Draper of Prescott, AZ; his grandson, Joshua del Prado of Phoenix, AZ; and his granddaughter, Marissa del Prado of Spokane, WA.
The family expresses their deepest gratitude to all the staff of Schneidmiller Hospice House of Northern Idaho for their love, exceptional care and thoughtfulness, and to Chuck Stobie, Ken's caregiver and friend.
Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 3 pm at the River of Life Friends Church in Post Falls, Idaho.
