Aleene Miller Dunsmore
Sweetwater, TN
Aleene Miller Dunsmore, age 80 of Sweetwater, entered God's presence on April 9, 2018. She was a founding and active member of True Gospel Baptist Church in Sweetwater, TN. Her faith and love for God was evident in every aspect of her life. After 27 years of dedicated service, she retired from Sweetwater Hospital. She was a former board member of the Christianburg Volunteer Fire Department. She was known for her old-fashioned apple stack cakes, gardening, traveling with friends, and for her passion of caring for others. She was truly a selfless person, helping others before herself. Her smile and laughter illuminated the room and brought happiness and comfort to those around her. Aleene treasured her children and grandsons. She played and continues to play an intimate and special role in their lives.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Roger E. Dunsmore; parents, Clarence and Reba Miller; sister, Helen Miller; brother, Marvin Miller. Survivors include: son, Steve Dunsmore of Sweetwater; daughter and fiance, Karen Raby and Tommy Mason of Athens; grandchildren, Jonathan Swainson of Cleveland, Hunter and Chase Raby of Sweetwater; sister-in-law, Nancy Miller of Sweetwater; brother-in-law, Rector Dunsmore of Sweetwater; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vandella and Larry Bryson of Knoxville, Geraldine and Larry Richardson of Athens; several nieces and nephews; special cousin and life-long friend, Grace Carpenter of Sweetwater. She will be at Kyker Funeral Home, Sweetwater, where the family will receive friends on Friday, April 13 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The celebration of life service will be Saturday, April 14 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Sam Loy and Rev. Darrell Griffis officiating. Interment to follow in Christianburg Baptist Church Cemetery. Kyker Funeral Home of Sweetwater is in charge of arrangements.
