Karl Notz passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 3, 2019. He leaves behind Charlene, his loving wife of many years. Four children - Katherine Fulk (Dennis) of Pegram, TN; Tom Notz of Oak Ridge, TN; Karen Whitney (Jerry) of Cincinnati, OH; Julie Sutherland (Russ) of Salt Lake City, Utah; one step-son Thomas Norman (Jackie) of Tullahoma, TN; also 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Karl had a life long love affair with water. He was an avid water skier and always owned at least one boat. After receiving his doctorate, he accepted a job at ORNL and worked there until his retirement, when he moved to a log cabin, he built on Watts Bar Lake. He had 30 happy years on the lake. "Karl's Cabin" was frequently filled with visiting friends and relatives. He will be remembered by family and friends as a loving, generous, unique and intelligent man who never lost his lifelong love of learning. No services are planned at this time.
