As an artist I continue to thank my lucky stars that I had Rachael Young as my professor. Her passion in art history seemed strongly toward the abstract expressionists. I still remember the vivid discussions and her presentations. She was elegant in her black or plaid dresses and neat hair. She made an impression on me as a young woman that as a 60 year old in Los Angeles, has never changed.

I had the privilege of taking one of Dr. Young's Art History classes at UT. It was among the best classes in all my four years and imparted a lifelong appreciation for art. She was an inspiration.

May you take comfort in knowing that hers was a life well-lived.

One of the kindest and dearest people I have ever met. Dear, dear Rachael, a great lady! A dear friend. I will miss you.
