He was my Uncle, a mentor and my friend from the time I was brought into this world some 70 years ago. Along with his brother Bob who also loved and respected life the same way until he died of Lou Gehrig's disease; we were so blessed with their presence. I'm named after both of these wonderful gentlemen; Robert Ray. I will endeavor to honor their names and the goodness they constantly stood for and exampled. My mother, their sister, quickly approaching 92 is now the monarch of the family. As I have tried to do for so many years I can't remember any more, as her constant caregiver and as my Uncle Ray supported, it is my duty to see she continues for as long as God wills, to represent all those who have passed before as she's always done; showing love for family, humanity and all of God's creation; treating everyone with respect and dignity and above all, never ever forgetting the one God who gave us all we've had, what we now have and more. I will miss my Mom playing the piano while they sang songs together. When he was happy or just thankful, he would sing gently and to himself. Along with a veritable host of family and friends, I will miss my Uncle Ray; always.
