Velma was my best friend growing up. We (4 of us) made up the TB club, Tom Boys, true beauties; we laughed and said take your pick. One of our summer regular things was to "camp" in a empty house in the woods - with a path to the outhouse. Rode horse back, ice skated, and attend church camps together. I believe I'm the last TB member. Ralph, I'm sorry about your losing her. She was always a real true blue friend.

Velma kept the Theory Group of the Solid State Division at ORNL going in excellent fashion for many years by catching mistakes in letters and articles.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Velma and I worked together with the Theory Group of the Solid State Division at ORNL. I'll never forget being in her office on 9/11, crying on the phone with my son in LA. She was a great comfort and always kind and generous with her time. She was loved and respected by everyone who knew her. My deepest condolences to her family on their loss.
