Dear Mark,

I was saddened at hearing the loss of your mother. My parents,Sheriff Crider and our family loved to visit your family at the wonderful Mambourg lodge. I continued to write to Barbara all these years even though I moved away after I left college. I do remember seeing you when we visited. Please accept my condolences on the loss of your wonderful mother.

Many years ago I worked with Barb at the OSU library. She was such a lovely person. For several years she had a summer picnic for library employees at her Lancaster home (now known as Mambourg Lodge). I fondly remember the wonderful home and large acreage surrounding the house. I also remember her love of animals. I think that she had a number of cats at her home during the summers that she hosted library picnics. And I think that she talked about a few deer that she had befriended. I was sorry to read in the newspaper that she had passed away. She was a special person.

In 1965, my very first job was with the Fairfield County Library and Barbara was the lead. She taught me so much about the library as well as hard work. She was in charge of the county historical reference books and it was obvious that she cared deeply about the county. She would not even go out of the county to buy her cars because she wanted the local businesses to get the sale. I am very sorry that I never visited her after I left the library, especially in her later years. Barbara taught so so much in my early working career. My condolences to her family.

Sorry about you're aunts passing. I will always remember my visits to the Mambourg Lodge you're family's hospitality (and maybe an illegal deer pet).
