He was a great man. Strong in his silence. He lived to love and serve. The only thing stronger then his sense of duty was the love he had for his family especially the love he had for his wife ( Mary Ann Augg). His life started the day he met her. It was a true Hollywood romance. They met on blind dates with other people. They quickly fell in love, however, he knew his love for our country would lead him to join the military. There love stood strong and after his discharge from the military his commitment to family and community drew him to join the Lancaster police department. From 1949 till 1988 ,when he retired as police chief, he remaind dedicated to the city of Lancaster. All the while cheered on and motivated by his one true love, Mary Ann Augg. His life started the day he met her and ended the same way. She never left his side for one moment. He will be missed by everyone his life touched.
I love you Grandfather

I have memories as a little girl ,Flavon and Mary Ann would visit my grandparents.Flavon laid his unlit pipe on the coffee table and i picked it up and put it in my mouth. The bitter tasting tobacco, i will never forget that taste:).Always a handsome man ,huge smile and smelled so good. The men would sit around and play music ,while the ladies made food and everyone sat and told stories of old times and listen to the laughter. Flavon always looked so handsome in his Police uniform .A well respected man of our community .You will be missed .Wendy Moore
