I attended Lancaster High School, and graduated with Gerry in 1955. He always came for the reunions, and it was great to see him. I was always a little jealous knowing he lived in one of my favorite cities. San Francisco.
He was a good and decent man. My condolences to his family.

Jerry was my first cousin. Such a sweet man, and very caring. I will miss him so much.
My best memories of Jerry is that he started doing our family genealogy and found that I too was doing the history. More into traveling around the US and on computers, and libraries. We kept in touch and compared notes until he finally said I had the ball and run with it. He traveled to other countries and always looked for Metcalf family history. Then he shared.
He also saved me and my Dad from an embarrassing incident years ago. At a family reunion, Jerry, Ross and other first cousins were watching my dad and young kids fly kites. Dad's was a canvas box kite. I was about 5/6 at the time... skinny and was always asking to hold the kite...by my self! It was a really really windy day. Dad finally gave in, and told me ... don't let go. So, I didn't let go, but the kite lifted me off my feet. Jerry ran, caught me and saved me from being hurt and saved Daddy from being scolded (even more so than he was, from Mother). Ross, I think, was the one who mentioned remembering my Mother scolding Daddy. I had a ball and loved Jerry so much for helping me. I had no idea how dangerous it could have been. Even then at 10/11 yr. old, Jerry had a heart so big and was so much fun. I will miss him and care for him always. RIP Jerry, you were a good man.
