I feel so blessed to have met Mike one warm afternoon while he was walking Misti. Well, for Mike, any day was a day to wear shorts unless it was snowing. So in Charlotte, that meant 362 days for Mike to enjoy being outside tinkering in the garage, watering the flowers, cleaning his car, or just relaxing in his lawn chair. Although I didn't know Mike for a long period, I know that he enjoyed life!

Mike and I would chat outside while I was doing some errands, and he was always interested in what we talked about and would lend a hand in whatever way he could. It is so apparent that he touched the lives of those with whom he interacted because of the way he shared of himself. I was so lucky to share time with Mike.

The other thing Mike enjoyed in life was desserts! He was so appreciative of the treats his neighbor and I would share but never wanted to take them. I would see him a couple days after and he would say, "boy, that was good pie." It always made me smile to know he enjoyed my baking efforts, whether great or average, he let me know it was the best he had ever had. He also liked to share his desserts like Sam's Frozen Yogurt - yum! God bless him for making others feel so wonderful!!

As Mike so loved the outdoors, I wanted to include this prayer as it will remind me that Mike is around when I am outside doing my errands.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep,
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond's gift of snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the autumn's gentle rain,
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush.
Of quiet birds in circled flight,
I am the soft stars that shine at night,
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.

Rest in peace and comfort knowing that you touched my life and that of many others.

Carolyn - may your heart always be filled with Mike's love, laugh, and spirit for life. As you continue to heal, may your sadness be replaced with joy in the memories you have of your life with Mike.

Carolyn, I am so sorry for the loss of Mike. He was a very dear friend to me and I will miss our phone calls and E-mails we shared. and the names he would call me sometimes. I pray that you find peace and comfort in the weeks ahead. Love,

I remember when I talked with Grandpa about Jesus when he was sick. We talked about being together again one day in Heaven. We will be brothers in Heaven because we have accepted Jesus as our Savior and we are all his kids. I will miss my times with Grandpa but he will always be with me.

I have so many good memories of Mike. He, Carolyn and I had some really good times. He will be sorely missed by many and will remain in our hearts forever.
