I just learned of Bur's passing. I was a close friend of his sister Natalie's and Bur was a good brother and friend. Natalie and I flew out to Ohio from Massachusetts about 14 or 15 years ago to pick up a little car that he was giving to her. We were only supposed to be there two days but the registry and insurance companies in Massachusetts got things confused and he ended up with us for a week. It was a wonderful trip for Natalie and Bur, the last time that they spent together. They had a wonderful chance to reconnect with each other.

His dogs Mollie and Minnie turned me into a small dog lover that has never vanished. We used to email pictures of our dogs back and forth.

During that visit we took several day trips with the two of them having such a good time sharing memories with each other and with me. He packed us all, Mollie and Minnie included, into his mini van and off we went. We visited the Fenton glass factory, the building-sized basket that houses the Longaberger baskets offices, and we went to the factory to try our hands at basket weaving. He took us for lunch in a favorite restaurant of his that I can't recall the name of but I do remember that it was on a boat.

When his sister Natalie passed he came to Massachusetts and he was a delightful houseguest as we sorted through her home and memories.

I miss his emails that included pictures of himself with a charming young woman from West Virginia horseback riding on the same horse, a photo he was quite proud of; sharing World War II events with his buddies, his ideas on gun rights, and politics. I knew something was wrong when I never heard from him about Donald Trump.

Goodbye Bur, I loved you as a good friend, you are missed.

So sorry to hear of Neil's passing. I know I can speak on behalf of my late father, Medill Wygum in expressing condolences, as he and Neil were very good friends for most of their lives. I myself fondly remember many times that I as a child would stop at City News to look at the guns, sneak a peek at the magazines on the top row, and buy the boys "necessary gym equipment". He was always so nice, and treated everyone with upmost respect. Neil, you will be missed.
