"Learning to care, caring to learn." These were the words Mr. Bowes etched into my soul. I might not have known it when I was a young student in his gifted program at Sharonville Elementary, but I was lucky beyond belief to have him as not just a teacher, but a mentor. His deeply engrained sense of empathy lives on as a core component of who I am. We share a special connection, as I am the son of Vietnamese refugees, and he worked tirelessly to educate his students on the conflict, on the toll it took on all involved. He was a shining light in broken world, and I can only hope I can carry the torch of goodness he carried in life.

Pat was one of my coaches in baseball as a young kid. He was always great! He lived down the street from me in an apartment on Allen Street in Lancaster. I am proud to say, I think I was one of his favorites! As time went on, and I grew older, we lost touch, but I never will forget him. The obituary says it all. Thanks Pat for being my friend and coach! You will be missed!
