Shirley was one-of-a-kind. I remember in the late 80's when she first received tapes of orchestral accompaniments to classical piano compositions. She'd tune her piano to the appropriate pitch, begin the tape and then, create beautiful music while she flawlessly tickled the ivories in concert with the recording.

Of course, we'd accompany these experiences with a glass (or two) of adult beverages.

What a wonderful artist, consummate educator, genuine Friend!

All of us that know her passion and impact on the Arts in the Greater Lancaster Area will cherish her legacy and miss her keen eye and integrated disposition.

Shirley, Phil and I missed you at the Lilyfest but felt your presence. We loved always getting to see you; oh how we loved getting to visit with you there.
Thanks for all you gave the world.

I have many fond memories of Shirley, at her home and at the LilyFest venue, property of the Bishops in Hocking Hills! She will certainly be missed, but she left so many people with wonderful, loving memories of great times! Love you Shirley! Rest in Peace! (And, give John a big hug from me!)

I had Shirley Landis as a fourth grade teacher at Gettysburg Elemementary back in the 70's. She was an excellent teacher who was kind and fair. She loved music and cultural teachings. I remember she had an extensive sense of humor and was very organized and energetic as a teacher. My life is better having had Shirley as a teacher. RIP
