Elisea Chavez, 94, passed away on Feb. 21, 2018. She was a resident of Guadalupita and Chacon, and, recently, of Las Vegas, N.M.
She was born July 24, 1923 in Guadalupita to Pedro Damian Pacheco and Estefana Rascon. She was a lifetime Catholic and a member of St. Gertrude's Catholic Church in Mora, N.M.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters and other family members including her husband of 67 years, Palemon Chavez.
She is survived by a sister, Isabelita "Lita" Leyba and a brother-in-law Leroy Chavez (Osma). Also surviving her are her children, Viola Duran, Carlos Chavez (Frances), Maria Elena Chavez, Connie Snyder (Paul), Joe Chavez, Matilda Scheurer, Jessie Weathers, Linda Matthews (Anthony), a special Granddaughter, Kimberly Duran, Daughter-in-law Susan Montoya, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great-great-grandson and her special friends, Jenny Chavez and Viola Griego.
The recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Friday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Gertrude's Catholic Church in Mora. The Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, March 3, at 11 a.m. with Father Paul Grala as celebrant. The burial will follow at the Guadalupita Cemetery.
Flowers for the service can be delivered to Riverside Funeral Home of Santa Fe.
