January 1, 1930 - April 5, 2017 Gerry was the first baby to be born in 1930 in Washington, DC. He received his BA from Princeton University and MBA from Harvard Business School. Gerry worked for more than 25 years as VP and Chief Financial Officer of Early California, shepherding the company from a leading olive company to an international leader in the rice and fire retardant chemical business. Gerry found love for a second time when he married Jacqueline Taylor, who survives him. They would have celebrated their 10th anniversary this year. Gerry was married for more than 50 years to Janet Heaton, and was father of Allison and Chip. He was a proud grandfather of Curtis and Carla Thomas and Claudia and Jack Ross. Gerry was also a much-loved brother of Bill and Jim. Gerry played competitive tennis for most of his life, beginning as a ranked national junior in Washington DC, to captaining the undefeated Princeton University team in 1951, to gaining national titles in the 70 and 75 age brackets. Golf brought him pleasure in later life. He was also an avid birder, bicyclist and bridge player. Donations can be made to the Lange Foundation or to St. John's Health Center Foundation.
