June 19, 1934 - January 19, 2018 Four-time Emmy Award-winning daytime television producer John J. Conboy, who served as executive producer and producer of some of television's most successful and popular daytime dramas, including "The Young and the Restless," "Santa Barbara," "Guiding Light" and "Capitol," has died in Palm Desert, CA. A native of Binghamton, NY, and a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University's College of Fine Arts, Conboy's decades-long television career began as an actor. But he soon made the segue to what would be his greatest success - as a leading producer of hit daytime dramas at the height of the genre's popularity. A private memorial service has been planned.

I admired John tremendously. I worked with John as a script consultant for all the glorious days of "Capitol". My experiences with John and the cast were wonderful memories. Rest in peace, my friend.

Dear John, I know I drove you nuts, but for some strange reason you stood by me and overlooked my childish behavior for FOUR YEARS!!!! Looking back now, I see that you saved my life. You allowed me to grow into the man and actor I am..... I would say rest in peace, but knowing you, you´d want to get back to work. Thanks john. May the long time sunshine upon you. Humbly tendered by Wings Hauser

John lived near me when I was in Palm Desert and I often saw him at parties and social functions. He was a gracious, lovely gentleman and I always looked forward to seeing him. He will be missed in the desert as he was a major player there for many years.

I have wonderful memories of my cousin John's sense of humor. He would leave us laughing each and every visit to Binghamton. Mom and I had a great time when we visited him in Beverly Hills with a tour of his show and a great Chinese dinner. We thought of John often over the years and feel a loss with his passing.
