April 22, 1928 - February 6, 2016 On February 6, 2016, Ken passed away at Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, CA. Ken was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 22, 1928. He was the first son of Ben and Goldie Friedenthal and the older brother of Allen Friedenthal. Ken married Florence on June 22, 1947. He enlisted in the navy when he was still in high school, and received a BS in Physics from Case Institute of Technology. He and Florence had three children. Ken started his professional career working for the Naval Electronics Lab in San Diego, CA in 1951, and went on to work for Convair in 1955, and then Hughes Aircraft Company in 1961. Ken retired from Hughes in 1993 as Vice President of Technology. Ken will be remembered for his integrity, intellect, humility, and compassion for others. There was nothing more important to Ken than his family. His loving wife Florence, passed away in 2014 after 67 years of marriage. He is survived by his three children: Judi Lawenda and her partner Ron Rosen, Sandy Friedenthal and his wife Linda, and Cheryl Gehr and her husband Dean, as well as his five grandchildren: Brian Lawenda, Karen Lawenda, Michael Friedenthal, Jonathan Friedenthal, and Deano Gehr. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org).
