March 31, 1960 - October 23, 2016 Born Cincinnati, Ohio. Died in Venice CA, 5 months after being diagnosed with a stage 4 brain tumor, surrounded by loving family and friends. A graduate of Cincinnati's McNicholas High school, Michael received a BA from UC Berkeley, and an M.A .and PhD from Penn State. Survived by wife Valerie of 21 years, children Raphael and Eliana, mother Anna Mae, brother Tony (Amy) and sisters Rose (Charles) and Bev (Richard). Predeceased by father Alfred and brother Jerry. Michael enjoyed years of research in child development, mental health, and assistance to the under represented. He was passionate about gardening, music, art, fly fishing, food and wine. Remember him when you listen to Chet or Miles, visit the Getty, or drink a great Pinot. In lieu of flowers, donations requested to Team Michael Bono/National Brain Tumor Society, or reelrecovery.org. Funeral Services will be held today (Thursday) 3 PM at Mount Sinai Memorial Park, Simi Valley, Malinow and Silverman Mortuary 800.710.7100

So very sorry to hear this sad news. Michael was an AWESOME person. I met him through NAWRS professional organization. He was so wonderful to work with and be around. Many prayers of comfort and love for his family and friends.

I was very saddened to hear about Michael's passing. I served on the NAWRS Board with him, and he was a real asset to the mission of the organization. He was also a really nice guy. He will be missed.
