May 28, 1940 - August 17, 2016 Phil Engle passed away August 17, 2016. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Phil was born in Columbus, Ohio to Edward and Bette Engle. The family relocated permanently to Manhattan Beach in 1947 where Phil grew up with his three brothers, Dave, Paul, and Gene. He graduated from Mira Costa High School in 1958 and went on to the University of Southern California graduating with a degree in Business Management. He remained a fan of everything USC for the rest of his life. Phil began his long career with the Bergen Brunswig Company in 1964, and was immediately placed in their management program. Phil had various roles at Bergen eventually becoming President of the pharmaceutical distribution business. After retiring from Bergen, Phil had a calling to help turn around similar companies and spent a couple memorable years in Tampa, Florida and as well as a remarkable two-year stay in Sydney, Australia. Phil married Dru Anderson, the love of his life, in 1966. Phil and Dru were happily married for 50 years, and enjoyed most of their retirement in the dream home they built in San Clemente. They have one lovely daughter, Heidi Beyma, as well as three amazing granddaughters. Phil also enjoyed family reunions at The Alisal Ranch and relished the many memorable trips to Sun Valley, Europe, Hawaii, and Asia which he shared with his beloved wife, Dru, and was often joined by friends and family. Phil was sensitive, loving, kind, and very generous on so many levels¿..he will be dearly missed. Phil is survived by his wife Dru, of 50 years and also his daughter, Heidi, and son-in-law Mark Beyma, and three granddaughters, Haley, Sydney, and Chloe, as well as his brother Gene Engle, sister-in-law Teri, niece Krista, nephew Mathew, sister-in-law Mary, and nieces Kelly, Whitney, and Jamie. A celebration of Phil's life will take place on Sunday, September 25th from 12PM - 3PM at the Old Ranch Country Club, 3901 Lampson Avenue, Seal Beach, CA 90740.

Dru and family -- Please accept my condolences. I only knew Phil early in my career with Bergen but found him to be an honest, sincere and caring leader. His influence on Bergen Brunswig and our employees was felt then and now and will be missed. He was a true gentleman.
