December 16, 1927 - November 3, 2017 Eleanor (Ellie) Warren, 89, died November 3, at her home in Laguna Woods Village. She was born in New York City on December 16, 1927 and grew up in New York and New Jersey. Ellie and her husband Maurice (Moss) moved to Southern California in 1949. Eleanor was a much-loved and very successful teacher of 6th graders at Hobart Blvd. Elementary School for 25 years. Her students were head-and-shoulders above their cohorts when entering middle school, and she made a priority of bolstering their self-esteem, so that each student believed they would succeed if they worked hard. When she retired, she moved to Laguna Woods Village, playing and teaching duplicate bridge. She was an excellent teacher and was loved and respected by her partners and her students. Ellie is survived by her husband, Maurice; daughters Hollie Meyer (Chatsworth) and Janice Warren (Darwin, Australia); and two grandchildren in Darwin, Mallory and Benjamin McGuinness. She will be sorely missed by many. Messages of condolence can be emailed to her daughters at [email protected] and [email protected].

My condolences to the family. I am the niece of Emily Deutsch--one of her dearest friends from NY-- and Ellie and I stayed in touch after my aunt died a few years ago. She used to attend bridge conventions at the hotel where I work and I would always visit with her when she was here. She was a lovely woman. I shall miss her.
